Curtis Furniture Co. > Who is Peter Curtis?
The Master Craftsman
Born and raised in Northern New York, Peter S. Curtis began Curtis Furniture Co. in 1981. His grandfather, a journeyman wood patternmaker for Kodak, and his father, an Industrial Arts Teacher, taught him at an early age to work with his hands and to appreciate the beauty of wood. Furniture building became even more appealing to him after visiting places such as Upper Canada Village in Canada and historic Williamsburg, Virginia.
In a small town in New Hampshire, Peter became an apprentice under a master cabinetmaker where he was taught the correct way to build quality furniture. Through years of his own experience in cabinetmaking, he has become well known in northern New York for his skills in designing and creating heirloom furniture.
Today, Curtis Furniture Co. still designs and builds furniture based on the old fashion traditions. Superb quality, traditional style, and long lasting durability are all trademarks that identify a piece of Curtis Furniture. Handcrafted, one piece at a time, is what makes a piece of Curtis furniture an original. The handcrafted richness and attention to detail is what makes Peter S. Curtis proud of his craft and, most important, makes a satisfied customer.
